Arsen's Baby Girl

Arsen and Julia's beautiful baby girl was born 8 days ago, weighted about 3.3kg and 51cm long. I was honored to be asked to take some pictures while his parents are visiting Canada.

Arsen, a happy father.

And Julia, the proud mother,

The blooper, the baby was about to sneeze...

3rd Annual Ottawa Chinese Dancing Show

This year I had the pleasure to become one of the volunteers involved in 3rd Annual Ottawa Chinese Dancing Show. My job, of course, was the photographer. The show was hosted at the hockey ring in John G. Miacak Centre (Beaverbrook library). To my surprised, ton of people showed up, the whole stadium was packed with dancers from all over Ottawa areas and audiences. I believe many of them were families to support their members.

The showed start at 7:00pm on Saturday night. I arrived about 6:45pm sort of in a hurry ( I was putting the last coat of Varnish on the floor before I left the house...) Therefore, I didn't get a good spot but it was ok to have an interesting perspective and with 45 degree towards the center stage, the pictures actually had more depth of field.

Luckily, all photographers were invited inside of the ring but all audience were outside of the plastic fence. Several of photographers looked more serious than others. You can tell from the equipment they brought.(see the following picture)

The show lasted about 2 hours with different age groups and genders, mostly dancers above 30 and females which you could figure this is more of a family event. Bo started to attend several dancing groups 1 year ago. Now she spends 3 nights a week to practice leaving me along at home :-( Anyway, please enjoy the following pictures from the show.

Bo with her dancing instructor, Huixiang Cai; and the whole gang.

At the end, I went home with the most beautiful girl in the show :-) Just to clarify, she is the 2nd from the left in the following picture ...

Finally, someone took a shoot at me during the show while I had no idea. You can easily tell from the following picture that I was exhausted from all the renovation work and took any opportunities for rest.

The End. Thanks for reading.

Starting to get together

After almost 4 months of renovation, things start to get together. The first areas that have been completed are living and dinning rooms. The existing hardwood floor and carpet was replaced by Macadamia maple hardwood floor purchased from Homedepot. The "default" baseboard was replaced by 5 and 1/2" high 3/4" thick pine baseboard with shoe mouldings. I also painted 5 layers of varnish on top of the hardwood floor... just don't ask why so many layers...

To be Continue...

Today is another busy day. Early morning, I started to varnish the hall way. As usual, the first step was vacuuming and cleaning, then mask taping the connecting areas.  Hall way is a tricky place, many corners with a curved stair case. The way I pull and push the applicator was very awkward... Because our stair lands onto the hall way, so when the varnish was still wet, Bo and I had to jump from the last step to the living room. Although it was fund, we were glad it was NOT a long distance, otherwise, we would be stuck in either first or second floor until the paint dries. Now I will wait until tomorrow for the second coat.

In the afternoon, I cut down another tree in the backyard. I felt like one of those bads guys in "The lord of the ring" when I was cutting the tree. After all, it takes years to grow a tree but minutes to cut it down. When the tree was down, I didn't feel too excited.

The next task was to clean the yard, back and front. Bo finally came to help me. Leaves, broken branches, weeds... the whole package. When the job was done, we collected 4 bags of stuff.

And the last job was to fertilize with one of those Scott brand spreaders.

What a busy day I had...

While more and more leaves grow, I can hardly see Kanata Lakes golf course anymore.

Thanks for reading. The end.
